Heart of a Wide-Area Voice Data Network
The heart of the RACS network is the Model 7032 Radio Dispatch Switch - a high-speed, central switching matrix for large radio communications systems. This audio-frequency, cross-point switch supports a large number of mobile and portable radio users, dispatch operators, pagers, and telephone callers.
A single switch can handle sixty sources of audio and allows up to sixteen simultaneous, full-duplex conversations. Multiple switches, strategically located throughout the coverage area, are linked to form a larger, wide-area network.
Each Model 7032 can be connected to up to 60 sources of audio, including dispatcher positions, telephone lines, radio receivers and microwave links.
With the RACS network, any mobile radio user can call any dispatcher, any dispatcher can control any repeater or base station and any telephone caller can access any mobile radio.
